Disabled people eligible for care in long-term institutions should receive those same services in their homes or a setting of their choice, U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer said Monday in pushing for a new federal law.
Insurance providers and public entities that pay for long-term care could not screen people out, use waiting lists, cap services or take other actions to restrict the home and community services, under the Democratic senator’s proposed Disability Integration Act.
