U.S. Senator Charles Schumer stopped in Hurleyville Thursday to introduce the Disability Integration Act.
It’s a bill he says would give people living with disabilities, who are eligible for institutional care, the option to live at home or in the community and still receive long-term services.
“Individuals with disabilities have a right to a high quality of life,” Schumer said. “They deserve to have that within their own community.”
